Responsibilities Include

~Perform geotechnical and geological analyses and calculations.
~Assist with preparation and writing of engineering and other reports.
~Assist with field explorations, collection of samples, geologic reconnaissance, and mapping.
~Assist with construction observation.
~Assist with geotechnical lab testing.
~Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
~Follow Shannon & Wilson’s Quality Assurance policy.
~Follow and promote Shannon & Wilson’s Health & Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
~Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.



Requirements Include

~BS degree in Civil Engineering, MS degree, Civil Engineering (Emphasis on Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering).
~0-1 years of experience
~Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Python and Matlab and numerical modeling experience (e.g. FLAC, Plaxis, OpenSEES). Working backgrounds and/or coursework in two or more of the following areas: soil-structure interaction, earthquake engineering, soil slope stability, seismic design, and retaining structures.
~Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills required to effectively interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
~Must be personable, flexible, and professional.
~Must be able to work independently with the appropriate level of supervision.
~Must be willing and able to travel to support the needs of other S&W offices.
~Must have and maintain a valid driver license and insurable driving record.
~Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel, required; MS Access, desirable.
~This position requires critical thinking and analysis; frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting and carrying 30+ pounds; working in all weather conditions; field visits per project needs; ability to travel to other S&W offices; and ability to drive (or fly) to and from job sites locally and out of state.
