Tetra Tech BAS is seeking a full time Staff Geologist to join our office in Diamond Bar, California. The individual will become an integral member of our team providing operational, field, engineering, and technical support to the geotechnical services group. Typical responsibilities include technical and administrative assistance with staff and project work as well as field/data collection and construction observation and testing duties as needed.
B.S. degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field; plus 1 year of hands-on experience or MSc.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet software.
Detailed oriented to a fault.
Good knowledge graphical software (Illustrator, CorelDraw).
Working knowledge of GIS (ArcGIS) desirable.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD desirable.
Ability and willingness to perform field work, including travel on out-of-town assignments, potentially for extended periods of time.
Ability to work on and prioritize a variety of technical assignments and complete work satisfactorily and on schedule.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as scientific reports, engineering drawings, operation and maintenance instructions, and user manuals.
Ability to write clear and concise sections of technical reports and correspondence.
Ability to work with basic engineering and mathematical concepts and principles.
Ability to apply engineering and mathematical concepts to practical situations.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Ability to operate a computer and field/data collection instruments.
Strong communication skills – both written and oral.
Strong interpersonal skills – ability to work well in a team setting
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Please note -- Individual will be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, noise, odors and extreme weather elements including a variety of environments associated with landfill, mining, and construction projects. The noise level in the primary work environmental is usually moderate.
