The University of Bristol seeks an outstanding candidate to appoint as a Professor and Head of School of Geographical Sciences. We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated strong leadership in a senior role and who have shown significant achievement in their area of research expertise across human or physical geography.
This is a key academic leadership position within the School of Geographical Sciences, and we are seeking a candidate who can lead the School on strategic and operational issues, as well as playing a key role in supporting the development of the geographical sciences research community across the University. This is an important time for the University as it starts to implement its new strategic plan (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/media-library/sites/university/documents/governance/policies/university-strategy.pdf), which will involve a major upgrade of facilities for the School; the new Head will help to drive this forward, as well as implementing the School’s strategy for 2017/18 to 2019/20.
The School is recognised as one of the world’s leading geography departments for its teaching and research in human sciences, environmental processes and environmental systems. It was the only UK geography department to have been ranked in the top category in every UK national research assessment exercise and research excellent framework assessment that has been held. We are seeking applications from candidates across the breadth of disciplines.
